Residential Support Workers

Contract type: Short Term and Long Term

Staffing Connect are looking for a number of Residential Support Workers for on going assisgments in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, as well as the London Borough of Hounslow. 

 

As a Residential Support Worker you may be providing personal care to Children with different levels of disabilities in a respite or residential setting. You can expect to work with residents with different personalities, needs and capabilities. Some of these residents may have learning difficulties, some physical disabilities and others a combination of both.

 

Person Specification

To be a professional care worker you should be able to demonstrate a number of key attributes and skills, including:

  • Good understanding of the principles of care

  • Ability to follow procedures set out by the residential home and by law

  • Suitable experience and qualifications (see below)

  • Effective communication skills - especially a good and empathetic listener

  • A caring nature - this really should be work you choose to do

  • Respect for people who are dependant and vulnerable

Working Experience & Qualification

NVQ level 2 and above but not essential.

Previous care experience is essential and the candidate should be able to provide 5 yrs professional referencing.

Moving & handling, H&S, Food Hygiene, Medication, Infection control, Safeguarding Children, and Child Protection. 

Though this training is desirable - all training may be provided for on going members of staff

Learning Support Assistant

Role description:

caring individuals with excellent social skills and a personable nature are needed to work along side young people with learning disabilities, supporting them in college.

 

Within this role you will be supporting students, including those with severe learning difficulties, complex medical conditions, severe communication disorders, bi-modal sensory impairment and challenging behaviours. Due to the nature of these conditions your duties could include the personal care of a number of students; therefore candidates applying should demonstrate compassion and patience.

 

Qualifications such as Team-Teach, and for moving and handling would be favourable.Experience required: You must have good spoken and written English; be eligible to work in the UK and have a minimum of 6 months child related experience within an SEN/care setting.

Nursing Unit Manager

General Scope of the Post 

To be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the safe, efficient and skilled delivery of care to residents.  To ensure that all Trust policies & procedures are adhered to. 

 

Principal Duties 

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for carrying out the following duties: 

 

Delivery of Care to Residents

  • Carry out all clinical nursing practices in accordance with care procedures as directed by the company. 

  • Undertake the initial assessment of residents in line with policies and procedures.  From this assessment develop a care plan with the resident.  Ensure that the care plan is realistic and achievable. 

  • Supervise and participate in the delivery of care to the resident in line with the care plan. Anticipate the needs of the residents, monitor the effectiveness of the care plan, making changes as necessary, ensuring that the plan reflects changing circumstances and current objectives, working in line with Care Home  regulations and NMC guidance on record keeping. 

  • Ensure that all medication, including controlled drugs are administered, recorded, maintained and replenished at all times consistent with the Care Centre’s written policies and procedures and in line with NMC guidance on drug administration. 

  • Communicating with the residents, relatives and visitors, documenting and acting on all relevant details, reporting to line manager as appropriate. 

Supervision of Staff

  • Manages the unit and staff whilst on duty including ensuring that there are sufficient staff to carry out all duties. 

  • Participates in the induction of new staff to the Care Centre and their duties.  After familiarization of their duties and responsibilities, supervises and co-ordinates staff to ensure that their jobs are prioritized and performed in a diligent, caring appropriate and attentive manner at all times. 

  • Where necessary, instigates and/or participates in the disciplinary process where conduct, attitude or quality of work are inconsistent with goals and objectives of the Care Centre. 

  • Where necessary, provides advice and counsel to staff, being particularly supportive at times of severe emotional need or stress. 

Administration and Record Keeping

  • Ensures that all notes and records relating to the care of the residents are maintained in an accurate, legible, consistent and timely fashion, reflecting the residents as individuals and all changes to the care needs.

  • Assisting and maintaining professional discipline within the Care Centre. 

  • Co-operating with all staff to promote and maintain a high standard of care, complying with all quality systems introduced by the Trust. 

  • Liaises with the residents, friends/family/advocates of the resident before and during the resident’s stay at the Care Centre, promoting a professional, caring and sympathetic approach and advising on procedures relevant to admission and changes which may occur through out the resident’s stay. 

Quality Assurance

  • Ensures familiarity with the Care Centre’s quality assurance framework. Participates in programmes designed to review, evaluate and improve systems and processes, policies, procedures etc in meeting quality improvement objectives for the Care Centre. 

  • Participates in the training and teaching of other staff members within the team. 

  • To work with other Trust staff to implement and monitor quality systems to maintain high standards of care. 

Professional Development

  • To have a working knowledge of the National Minimum Care Standards and the impact that they have of working within the Care Centre. 

  • Accepts responsibility for developing own knowledge and skills, promoting the concept of life long learning. 

  • To ensure that own training and development needs are identified and recorded.  Accepts personal responsibility for own CPD activities, and for keeping up to date within own specialty. 

  • To be aware of professional accountability and act at all times within the NMC code of professional conduct. 

  • To ensure that PREP is maintained under the guidance of NMC, ensuring that re-registration is flawless. 

In addition to the above, there are some general requirements that apply to all jobs in the Care Centre. 

  • Participation in staff meetings. 

  • Participation in training activities. 

  • Participation in staff supervision and personal development review. 

  • Participation in quality assurance systems. 

  • Taking responsibility for personal development by keeping abreast of developments in the field of caring for older people.

Nursery Practitioners

Job Description

Assist the nursery team in providing a friendly, caring and relaxing environment in order to encourage and develop children in our care.

 

  • To ensure all daily routines are adhered to.

  • To plan, organise and carry out planned activities, organising themes and projects. Support the Room Leader in supervising and monitoring students in training and Nursery Assistants if necessary.

  • Lock up and unlock Nursery premises if required.

  • To settle in new children and provide on-going support, under a key worker system, liaising with parents and maintaining good communications.

  • To maintain children’s records and carry out assessments.

  • To assist in maintaining a safe, clean and tidy base room.

Nursery Nurse/Nursery Assistant

Role description: Nursery Nurse/Nursery Assistant positions are available at progressive, independent nurseries. They are looking for experienced, nursery nurses/nursery assistants to work in the EYFS to start as soon as possible. The nurseries are extremely well resourced with exciting approaches to learning and development.

 

Experience required: Candidates should have NVQ2/NVQ3 qualification in Early Years Education, preferred but not essential; experience in EYFS in the UK; be enthusiastic and engaging with the children in your care; and have creative ideas to share with colleagues.
